AT&T forcing users onto Yahoo! social network!
Monday, June 14th, 2010I was trying to pay my AT&T bill and so I click a link to manage my account. To my surprise, my account is not manageable on AT&T’s website anymore, it’s done on a white-labeled yahoo site. This wouldn’t be bad if I could just pay my bill, but I can’t. So I poked around some more and noticed that I am now part of Yahoo!’s social network using the information I gave to AT&T in confidence when signing up for DSL.
ALL of my information except for CC info was defaulted to either show to my “connections” or to EVERYONE, my date of birth, my first and last name! WTF??? I don’t want to be on yahoo!! I just wanted internet access!
This is AT&T’s brute force attempt at gaining members for it’s own social network. This is a FUCKING DIRTY tactic and I WILL cancel my account over it. I encourage you to do the same.
